Tidy Village

Welcome to our free Village website.
Whether resident, visitor or Ex-pat...
Here you can share and find information about all aspects of our village life both past and present!

But to keep it interesting I need your input!

As you might imagine, this website is all done on the kitchen table as it were, using my free ISP webspace, with no fees, sponsors, posh facilities or fancy web designer costs !
It is updated on an irregular basis 'As and when' your contributions arrive and when I've got time!!  Which is why
I am able to  publish it free of any charges!  You could say its another of my hobbies!

If you you don't tell me! I dont know!  more..

It would be good to see more of our own East Brent parish and village events and news here on the front page!

Would you like to learn more about Beekeeping?

LOCAL SUCCESS STORIES

NEW DECENT AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR LOCAL PEOPLE COMES TO EAST BRENT

It all started in 2008 when the Parish Council began to look into whether local people needed help to find an affordable home............

                    More on this story here!

An update from the Rooksbridge 'Tidy Village' group.

The Rooksbridge 'Tidy Village' group, are residents who give of their time to attempt to present to visitors and travellers, a neat and nurtured look to our community.  Hopefully this will encourage a feeling of pride in our surroundings.

Money has been raised to help provide new signs at either end of the village.

A small area around the village pump has been given a make-over with plantings and sculptures to draw attention to this small part of our heritage.

Also plants recovered from the garden of the now demolished 'Rose Cottage' have been used to brighten the verge alongside the new stretch of pavement now in place opposite the village shop and Pub.

December. Not much to report re 'Tidy Village' at this time of year. We have a large bag of

daffodils to plant, courtesy of Sedgemoor District Council. We will probably plant alongside the A38 adjacent to the new stretch of pavement.
Geraniums are about to be removed from the tubs and replaced with winter pansies. Thanks to the Braddick family for tending the Mendip Road tubs. Lights for Life are looking into getting a shorter cut of the grass verges along the main road. Hopefully, we will have another litter picking day in the spring.
