Meeting update!

We welcome Danny and Sandy to our village store and Post Office  more..

Welcome to our Village website.
Whether resident, visitor or Ex-pat...
Here you can share and find information about all aspects of our village life both past and present!

As you might imagine, this website is all done on the kitchen table as it were, using my free ISP webspace, with no fees, sponsors, posh facilities or fancy web designer costs !  It is updated on an irregular basis !  'As and when' your contributions arrive and when I've got time!!  Which is how I am able to  publish it free of charge. You could say its another of my hobbies!
But to keep it interesting I need your input!
more..

Congratulations to Sheila Bellingham
on winning South West
Special Needs Teacher of the year award.

Its been a hectic but special year for Sheila. And winning this special teaching award acknowledges her dedication to her pupils at
St Joseph's RC Primary School in Burnham on sea.

Anyone who knows Sheila will appreciate this is a well deserved reward.
(Sheila was hoping to retire and join Keith in his retirement from the shop and Post Office.  But her Headmaster will not let her go)!

Whats on?

31 years as our village Postmaster.

Keith Bellingham and Judith Parry at the P.O. say goodbye and thank you

After securing the future of our village store and Post Office, Proprietor for over 31 years Keith Bellingham, has decided to retire! He handed the keys to the new owners Danny and Sandy after business on Wednesday 18th June!

After a career as a geologist based in Malawi, Keith and his wife Sheila came to Rooksbridge in 1977 when they bought the shop and Post Office, . Their 3 children Adrian, Stuart and Alice were born and educated here. (Keith is very proud of the fact that he was able to take a 6 week break in the early 90's to visit relatives in Australia. And trust his three teenaged kids to run the shop and P.O. unaided)!
As well as raising a family, Keith and Sheila made many improvements to the house and shop and also expanded the many counter services now available at the Post Office.

Once the children had left school, Sheila decided to go back to her career as a teacher of special needs children. (Sheila has recently been nominated for the South West Teacher of the Year award)!
After Sheila went back to teaching Keith had several assistants to help him run the store. The latest being Judith who has been with him for more than 11 years!.

Keith was Chairman of our parish council for several years.

Keith and Sheila are very active members of our village community. And hopefully will remain so when they retire to their new home in the village.

As customers and friends we thank Keith, his family and everyone involved with providing and preserving that rare commodity 'A village Store' and long may it remain!

Reports and photo's of your local event, are

We Welcome Sandy and Danny Lawrence.

The new owners of our Village Post Office.
Sandy and Danny will be taking over on
Thursday 19th June
We wish them every success in their new venture.

Keith hands the keys to the store to the new owner Danny.

Danny and Sandy join our community from Henley on Thames.
In a previous life Danny was in VIP security.
After visiting our village Danny and Sandy just had to move here!

Living over the shop is a new venture for them and rely on our continued custom and help, to continue the service we have become accustomed to!
