From Vernon Churchill BogyIII I recently came across your website when I conducted a search for "Horatio Hornblower Whitting," my great-grandfather. I was interested to see that HHW was identified as the son of Charles Sydney Whitting and Delia Matthews Hornblower (confirming what I already knew).
Imagine my surprise, therefore, when I saw that HHW's wife is shown as "Bertha Few" and that his child was "Stanley Edwin Whitting."
In fact, HHW was married to Mable O'Conner (I have a copy of their original marriage certificate issued in New South Wales, Australia, and their children were Charles Whitting (born +/- 1900) and Daisy Whitting (born 1896), both born in or about Weston-Super-Mare, England. In fact, the Charles S. Whitting home at Uphill Grange still stands, and is presently a care home for the elderly.
I am curious as to any information regarding the posting for HHW and family. Is it possible HHW had another marriage of which I was previously unaware, and that I may have heretofore unknown cousins in New Zealand (or elsewhere)? In any event, I would be most interested in any additional information which might be available.
