Meetings       Latest

Meetings are held monthly on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon often at a working apiary and are of course dependant on weather conditions. Not for us! but the bees!

We have some spare protective jackets, hats and veils etc. for visitors to use if needed.
Light refreshments are usually provided and it is always appreciated if members, visitors and guests will inform the host or secretary of their intention to attend.

With the beginner bee keeper in mind. Meeting subjects are usually demonstrations or talks by experienced beekeepers based on an aspect of beekeeping according to the season.
ie: Colony health and husbandry, Swarm control, Honey extraction etc.

The meetings and events for the 2008 season have been finalised. And dates, venues etc. are now available.

Note meeting are subject to change according to weather etc.

Latest meeting update!

Hello to everyone on the practical course

Just a quick reminder that there will be a meeting this Saturday June 14th at 2:30 at Thomas O'Neill's apiary in West Huntspill.

Gerald will be talking about Diseases.

Even if the weather is dreadful the meeting will go ahead. Hopefully we will only be looking at Thomas's bees to show that there is no sign of disease so the outdoor part of the lecture is not essential.

See you on Saturday

Christiane
Members who have supplied an email address, hopefully will receive a meeting update from Christiane including a map to the Rooksbridge apiary. Parking in the field will be signposted conditions permitting!

Unfortunately the weather is a major factor when opening up hives, so we may well have to cancel at short notice,

.....possibly as late as  lunchtime. Please check your email for last minute cancellations!
We will also try to get a message on the website (www.rooksbridge.org.uk) - there is a Bee link at the top right, on the opening page. Please ring me if you don't have the internet at home
(01934 750 305 - let it ring for a long time...).
Please let me know as soon as possible if you need a bee hat as I have returned a few of them to their rightful owners so that they could look at their own bees.

Regards

Christiane and Michael
